Day 11 – Mermaid Tail Braid

Yessssssss, I love quick-n-dirty hair tutorials!!! This chick is a video pro! After watching the last few videos I’ve posted, I really appreciate how Bebexo delivers her content.

I just tried this and I really like what my multicolored hair looks like when braided like this; however, I really ought to style the front of my hair. Without bangs, my do just looks flat. What works for you in the front?

Day 10 – Pin Curl Updo

Some friends of mine are getting married tomorrow and I’m really excited to get to play “Dress Up.” I have a fun dress to wear, but in Jo fashion, I need to do something exciting with my hair. After stumbling upon this hair tutorial, I decided this was the one for me 😀

I’ll be honest, I don’t know if I can do it, but luckily I have a full day to figure out how to make this work. Pictures coming soon!

Congratulations Dave & Julie!!!

Day 9 – Alternative Braid

Hahah, I’m pretty terrible at this one. I can’t quite get the proportions the way I want them (yet), but I think this idea is really neat. I’ve never even thought about twisting my hair like this to make a braid before. Guess you learn something new every day!

Any tricks you’ve found to make this work for you?

Day 8 – Rihanna Inspired

The ever-so-fabulous Sarah Breck sent this to me and I thought it was worthy of a share. Thanks Sarah!!

I’ve been know to wear my hair in a similar style to this, and I think how I do it is much more simple; however, I think this looks more professionally done. Regardless, I think this looks smashing.

Send me a picture if you try this. Would love to see how it looks!

Day 7 – Victory Bun

Yup, another bun!! They are so versatile; they are messy, classy, clean, chic, or grungy depending on how you personalize it. What can I say, I appreciate a nice bun, hun!

This gal has amazing eyes…

….and a solid hair tutorial. What I like is that she’s basically uses a victory roll technique to roll her hair up and then has turned those rolls into a bun. Just saying, it’s a great idea and I can’t believe I never thought of it. On the other hand, this does mean you need to spend more than 60 seconds on your hair (heheh, often when I’m putting my hair in a bun, it takes less than a minutes. Keeping in place is another story).

Day 6 – Edgy French Braid Ponytail

Yes, yes, yes!! This is how you do a hair tutorial!

I’m going to wear my hair like this this week. I’ll post pictures when I do.

Oh yeah, in case you guys try these tutorials and take pictures, I’m happy to post them if you send them, OR I’m just happy to check our your hard work! Email them to johoffberg @ gmail . com if you’d like.

Day 4 – Pinup Faux Bangs

I just love the color of this gal’s hair!! Again, gorgeous color and outrageous bangs.

If you’re short on time, jump to 1:46, 5:06, and 10:25 and watch for a little  bit.

I’ve done something similar to this, but because my hair normally isn’t super clean, it relatively stays in place with a few bobby pins, sans spray. That being said, I can now see how one can take bangs to a new height because of all the curling and spraying and curling and spraying…. 😀

Enjoy!!!

Day 3 – Marilyn Curls

Ladies, if you have short hair, then this is the tutorial for you!

Why this video? For one, Marilyn Monroe is an icon and Lisa Freemont Street knows how to make a tutorial. What more can a gal ask for?

Lisa does a great job explaining how to put in pin curls and about some of the finer details about directionality of your curl. If you actually watch the entire clip, instead of jump through, you’ll learn about the difference between curls from the 1930s vs the 1950s.

Day 2 – Front Swirl

I chose this video for two reasons:

  1. her hair is redder than mine
  2. her front swirl is larger than I’ve ever had mine

I think it’s safe to say I’m red with envy!

Yes, it’s a long video and I’d say you could safely fast forward through it about 30 seconds at a time until you found what you were looking for. You also can stop watching at the 9 minute mark, and/or jump back in around 12:40 to watch her put an enormous bow in her hair.

Quick run down: section hair off by making a square on the top of your head (for your enormous swirl), put hair in pony tail, and then curl everything. Jump to 3:15.

In general, her motto is: curl it, hairspray it, tease it, hairspray it, pin it, and hair spray it again!

It’s sooooo beeg! (yes, I purposely spelled it that way)
